what we aim for
Our Goals
The Gloria Diri Foundation aligns with key United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) to address pressing social needs and foster sustainable development in the Niger Delta region.
Through these focused goals, the Gloria Diri Foundation aims to create lasting positive change and improve the quality of life for the people in the Niger Delta.
We invite donors, volunteers, and partners to join us in this mission to foster a healthier, more equitable society.
Despite the Niger Delta’s rich natural resources, severe poverty persists due to ecological damage from oil exploitation and corrupt governance. Many residents live on less than $1 a day, facing malnutrition, unemployment, and social instability. Our initiatives aim to combat poverty and foster economic independence through:
- Skill acquisition programs
- SME funding
- Employment opportunities
- Provision of basic needs
No Poverty (UN Goal 1)
Oil exploration has devastated agricultural lands and waterways, leading to food insecurity and malnutrition. To address this, we collaborate with the Ministry of Agriculture and the Central Bank of Nigeria to support rural farmers by:
- Providing training
- Offering access to loans
- Supplying farming materials
- Enhance agricultural productivity and ensure food security
Zero Hunger (UN Goal 2)
Environmental pollution from oil activities poses significant health challenges. We aim to improve both physical and mental health outcomes for residents through:
- Partnerships with health organizations
- Funding for medical expenses
- Seasonal health check-ups
- Health education programs
Good Health and Well-Being (UN Goal 3)
High illiteracy rates and limited access to education hinder development in the Niger Delta. We work to bridge the educational gap and empower individuals with knowledge and skills by:
- Advocating for increased budget allocations for education
- Organizing adult education programs
- Offering scholarships
- Supporting skill empowerment initiatives
Quality Education (UN Goal 4)
Women in the Niger Delta face significant gender-based discrimination and violence. We are committed to empowering women and promoting gender equality by:
- Advocating for women’s rights
- Providing legal support for victims of violence
- Partnering with organizations focused on gender-based violence
- Promoting equal opportunities through education and advocacy
Gender Equality (UN Goal 5)
Achieving sustainable development requires effective partnerships. We collaborate with local and international NGOs, CSOs, and SDG champions to share knowledge, resources, and expertise. Our efforts include:
- Promoting public-private partnerships
- Supporting sustainable development policies
- Mobilizing resources to improve revenue collection and economic development
Partnerships for the Goals (UN Goal 17)
